Are you new to campsite maintenance? Been at it for a few years, but want a refresher? Or, maybe you've been considering taking on an assignment but want to see what's involved first? Whatever the case, join us at the West Carry Pond Campsite on May 24 for a workshop designed for campsite maintainers! We'll cover the 11 essential steps of a maintenance visit and even tackle a few tasks together.

Rainbow Stream Privy Haul and Site Prep

Katahdin District

The Rainbow Stream campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On May 31 - June 1 we'll need all the shoulders we can get to haul the lumber and materials to the campsite. We'll also do the site prep which will involve felling some trees and digging to get a flat surface. Access involves about 1.1 miles of hiking with negligible elevation gain (it's basically flat!). The group will car camp nearby.

Rainbow Stream Privy Build

The Rainbow Stream campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On June 7-8 (rain dates June 14-15) we'll build the new privy. If needed, we'll also haul in any lumber we didn't get to the site the weekend prior.  Access involves about 1.1 miles of hiking with negligible elevation gain (it's basically flat!). The group will car camp nearby.

Baldpate Campsite Privy Site Prep

The Baldpate campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On June 21 (rain date June 22) we'll do the site prep which will involve felling some trees and digging to get a flat surface. Access involves about 2.4 miles of hiking with 1,500 feet elevation gain.

Hall Mountain Campsite Privy Site Prep

The Hall Mountain campsite is getting a new privy, and we need your help! On July 19 (rain date July 20) we'll do the site prep which will involve felling some trees and digging to get a flat surface. Access involves about 2.5 miles of hiking with 1,700 feet elevation gain.

Moose Falls Tent Site Improvements

Bigelow District

The tent sites at the Moose Falls Campsite in the Bigelows could use some improvements! We'll be providing some TLC to a wooden tent platform and improving the earthen tenting spots. The hike to the campsite is about 3 miles and with 1,400 feet in elevation gain.Rain date is August 10th.

Horns Pond Campsite Cleanup!

Let’s make a difference where it matters most! Join us for a rewarding weekend of fresh air, stunning scenery, and meaningful action as we clean up the Horns Pond Campsite. It's the highest campsite in Maine, and over the years it has accumulated several generations of by-gone privies and other now unused items. This overnight trip will be to prepare the unwanted goods to be helicoptered out in 2026 (assuming we can secure the funds! Come help  leave the campsite better than we found it!
