73rd ANNUAL MEETING:

from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Driving Directions to Lincoln Auditorium at the University of Maine in Farmington:

   From the West (routes 2 or 4) or East (route 2): From the intersection of route 2 and route 4 south of the Village of Farmington, proceed toward town, past the McDonald's. Proceed around the sharp, uphill corner and the Roberts Learning Center is the first brick building on your right. Park below the building. The building entrance is on the front/uphill side of the building.

   From the East (route 43): Turn Left at the intersection with Routes 4/27. The Roberts Learning Center is a brick building approximately three blocks on your Left. Park below the building. The building entrance is on the front/uphill side of the building.

   From the North (routes 4 or 27): Proceed south through the Village of Farmington. Approximately three blocks through the mid-town intersection, the Roberts Learning Center is a brick building approximately three blocks on your Left. Park below the building. The building entrance is on the front/uphill side of the building.


8:00 a.m. - Registration, Coffee & Socializing

   There is no fee, but please register at the desk as you enter. Be sure to visit the various items on display of some of the historical and pictorial material from the Club's collection in the registration area. Tickets for lunch ($6.00) at the University Cafeteria (located across the courtyard and upstairs) will be available at the registration desk.

9:00 a.m. - Business Meeting & General Forum

  • President's Report on 2007 Activity - Milt Wright
  • Corresponding Secretary's Report - Dick Doucette

  • Base Camp Proposal Update - Lester Kenway

10:45 a.m. - Historical Pictures/Slides of Myron Avery and Building the AT in Maine - Dave Field

  • Collaboration with MATC on AT Projects in Baxter State Park - Paul Sannicandro
  • Campsite Committee Report - Laura Flight
  • Camp Group Registration - Milt Gross
  • Safety/Danger on the Trail - Sara Camenga

Noon - Lunch

Make sure that you have purchased your tickets for cafeteria lunch at the registration desk or feel free to get lunch on your own. Lunch ticket costs $6.00.

1 p.m. - General Forum Resumes

  • Trail Reports - Overseer Reports on the Status of Their Districts with Accompanying Slides by Dave Field
  • Update from ATC - Jody Carton, New England Regional Director of ATC
  • Status of Chainsaw Certification/Recertification - Craig Dickstein
  • Maine Appalachian Trail Land Trust - Carole Haas
  • Open Forum - Now is the time to ask any questions that you have, make comments and discuss any matter that you would like to discuss.
  • Adjourn to Workshops: All trail maintainers meet with their respective overseers. Because of the importance of this meeting, we ask that all section maintainers plan to meet with their District overseers.

    Anyone who is not a section maintainer and who would like to know how to become a member of a MATC committee, should meet at this time with the President and committee chairs.
